Service manuals can be downloaded from the web at www.tektronix.com/manuals.Search by model number to find the service manual for your instrument.Remove cosmetic covers and shieldRight-side or left-side references in these instructionsassume you are viewing the instrument from the front panel.To avoid electric shock which may result in injuryor loss of life, switch off the instrument power, then disconnectthe power cord from the mains power.Remove the power cord.If it is installed, pull the front protective coveroff the instrument.Remove the two T15 Torx-head screws that securethe plastic carrying handle to the side of the instrument. (It isnot necessary to remove the black metal handles.) Remove four T15 Torx-head screws along each side thatsecure the top and bottom covers to the instrument, and two T20 Torx-headscrews near the front edge of the top cover (next to the folding handles).Remove the top cover (leave the bottom cover in place).Remove the top cover by pulling straight back about 1 inch. Thenpull the sides of the top cover outward, flexing them slightly toclear the instrument chassis, and pull it away from the instrument.Remove the eighteen T15 Torx-head screws that securethe top shield to the chassis and remove the shield.Removing coversReplacethe Existing Acquisition MemoryThe acquisition memory is located near the rear panel, on theleft side.Use the ejector latches to release the existing acquisitionmemory module. Place the memory module into a static-shielded bag. Insert the new memory moduleat an approximately 45° angle, making sure the gold “fingers”are fully seated. Then rotate the module down toward the board untilthe latches click into place.Reinstall top shield and cosmeticcoversPlace the instrumenton its bottom feet.Place the top shieldon top of the instrument and reinstall the eighteen T15 Torx-headscrews.Place the instrument on the rear feet, so the frontpanel is facing up and the top is toward you.Place the top cover over the top of the instrumentand slide it toward the front panel. Make sure that the top coverwraps around the flanges on the rear panel on all three sides.Reinstall the four T20 Torx head screws (two on eachside) near the front edge of the top cover (next to the folding handles)that secure the top cover to the instrument. Torque these screws to8.0 in/lb.Rotate the instrumentso the bottom faces you.Place the bottom cover on the instrument, with theflip feet towards the front.Align the four screw holes on each side in the topand bottom covers with the holes in the chassis, and install eightT15 Torx-head screws, four on each side. Torque these screws to 8.0in/lb.Position the plastic carrying handle and its bracketon the right side of the instrument, and install the two T15 screwsthat secure it in place. Torque these screws to 8.0 in/lb.Install option keyTo activate your new option, you must enter a new option key.Power on the instrument.When the application launches, it will display an errormessage indicating that the current option key does not support thenew option hardware. Click OK to clear the error message.Verify the latest version of instrument software isinstalled. Tektronix recommends to update to the latest availablesoftware.Select Help > About to check the software version.Use your Web browser to go to: www.tektronix.com/software.Enter your instrument model number in the Search bykeyword text box and click Go.Follow the link for the analyzer software.If the installed software is older than that available,download the software.Follow the instructions on the Web page to installthe software.Select Tools > Install Upgrades... to start the upgrade installationprocess.Click Continue from the Install Upgrades introductionscreen.Enter the option key provided by Tektronix, and followthe on-screen instructions to install the option.Power off the instrument, then power back on.In the Help menu, select About Tektronix Real-TimeAnalyzer.Verify the new option is listed.Attach labelsPlease attach all labels provided in this kit on the instrument’srear panel.Attach the option key labelPlace the new option key label over the existing label on therear panel.Attach the product/option labelPlace the new product label over the existing label on the rearpanel.Verify instrument software versionTektronix recommends to update to the latest available applicationsoftware for your instrument.Select Help > About to check the software version.Use your Web browser to go to: www.tektronix.com/software.Search for your instrument’s model number andfollow the link to the software.If the installed software is older than that available,download the software.Follow the instructions on the Web page to installthe software. ■ End of Document ■
