Contacting Tektronix ================================================================================== 1. Introduction The TekExpress Thunderbolt application (Opt. Thunderbolt3 ) is the automated version of Thunderbolt measurements from DPOJET Timing and Analysis tool. With TekExpress Thunderbolt, Tektronix provides fully automated Tx solution for verification, characterization and debug. ================================================================================== 2. Features Release (10.0.1) - Thunderbolt TP2 and TP3 measurements support for Gen2 and Gen3 (Legacy and Rounded)as per CTS 1.0 - Preset Calibration for Gen2 and Gen3 (Legacy and Rounded) - DUT automation support - Lane 0/1 support - SCPI support - TXEQ measurement as per CTS 1.0 ================================================================================== 3. TekExpress Thunderbolt created changes on your system. After first launch of "TekExpress Thunderbolt.exe" following changes take place in your computer. - "My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" folder of current user NOTE: If a user with new login ID launches "TekExpress Thunderbolt.exe", "My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" of the new user. - "Thunderbolt" folder is created under "My TekExpress" folder - "Untitled Session" folder is created under "Thunderbolt" folder, note that every time "TekExpress Thunderbolt.exe" is launched "Untitled Session" folder is getting created under "Thunderbolt" folder and it will be deleted after proper termination of application. - If user saves a session in TekExpress Thunderbolt, all session files are saved under "Thunderbolt" folder. Note that each session has multiple files associated with it and do not tamper with any of the session file(s) and/or folder(s) this may result in loss of data or corrupted session files. ================================================================================== 4. Before you click "RUN" a) If you are executing TekExpress application on PC other than the scope used for testing then please ensure that the network connectivity is established between the PC running the TekExpress and the scope. Map the shared My TekExpress folder as X: (X drive) on scope instruments used in test setup running Microsoft Windows Operating System. This share folder is used to save the waveform files or any other file transfer operations. b) Ensure that all the required instruments are properly warmed up, Signal Path Compensation (SPC) is performed, followed by calibration and cable/Probe de-skew. c) Scope should be de-skewed with bandwidth set to 21G for all channels before testing. d) User would use Ch1, Ch3 or Ch2, Ch4 to get 100GS/s sample rate. ================================================================================== 5. Supported Tests (Gen2 and Gen3 (Rounded and Legacy)) TekExpress Thunderbolt supports Test Point 2(TP2) and Test Point 3(TP3) tests from Thunderbolt3 CTS v1.0. Tx Note: Frequency Variation measurement and Side Band (Low Frequency) measurements are not part of this application. ================================================================================== 6. Supported list of equipment, accessories and software - For waveform acquiring, Tektronix DPO DX/SX series 21GHz and above. - For SX series of oscilloscopes, only the Non-ATI channels for the following models are supported (DPO73304SX, DPO75002X, DPO75902SX, DPO77002SX) - Thunderbolt3 compliant fixtures approved by Intel and sold by Wilder-Tech are supported. - DPOJET Version: v10.2.0, DPOJET Thunderbolt v1.0.1 - TekScope F/W Version: v10.11.1 or above (Win10) - SDLA Version: v3.0.11 or above ================================================================================== 7. Known Limitations 7.1 Installer related - TekExpress and related software are installed on C: drive only. - User needs to have administrative privilege while installing the application. 7.2 TekExpress application related - When waveforms are loaded manually for 'Use pre-recorded waveform files' ensure that 'Data + and Data -' in 'Acquisitions' panel are selected as per the 'Single Ended' channel waveform names. - Ensure the 'Session Name' given is less than or equal to 20 characters and DUTID given less than or equal to 10 characters. - TP3 Eye Diagram sometime behave odd during execution if scope has less disk space in C: drive - Preset 15 name is appearing as Preset 15 (Select Preset 0 for Swing measurement) in report for TX EQ measurement - In Some rare cases when the app is running in DUT Automated mode, the DUT will not respond to pattern change requests. When this happens Signal validation or signal acquisition will fail. 7.3 Others - USB4 or TBTCAM fixtures are required for Thunderbolt testing. - Refer to DPOJET and SDLA for their respective limitations. ================================================================================== 8. Notes - The waveform name, results panel, test report will have 'Lane' set as Lane0 by default - The session files saved from TekExpress v10.0.0 of the application, may not work with TekExpress Thunderbolt v10.0.1 - The TenLiraDutControllerServerApp, which will be installed along TekExpress Thunderbolt application, is not used and therefore not applicable for TBT3/4 testing. ================================================================================== 9.
