1. Introduction

The Tektronix SFP+ QSFP+ Tx is an automated compliance and Debug test system for testing the SFP+TX
(SFF-8431), QSFP+Tx (SFF-8635) test.

SFP-TX option supports:
- Compliance test for SFP+ Tx and QSFP+ Tx for both Host and Module measurement
- DPOJET Plug-in, a debug solution for SFP+ Tx & QSFP+ Tx

SFP-WDP option supports following
- Compliance test for Host TWDPC measurement
- DPOJET plug-in as a debug solution

The Installation manual contains the procedure for installation and the online help file included
with the software contains the detailed information on how to use the system. This Readme.txt file
contains additional information for the user.

2. SFP-TX created changes on your system

After first launch of "TekExpress SFP+ QSFP+ Tx.exe" following changes take place in your
a) "My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" folder of current user
NOTE: If a user with new login ID launches "TekExpress SFP+ QSFP+ Tx.exe",
"My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" of the new user.
b) "SFP+ QSFP+ TX" folder is created under "My TekExpress" folder
c) "Untitled Session" folder is created under "SFP+ QSFP+ TX" folder, note that
every time "TekExpress SFP+ QSFP+ Tx.exe" is launched "Untitled Session" folder is
created under "SFP+ QSFP+ TX" folder and will be deleted after proper termination
of application.
d) If user saves a session in TekExpress SFP-TX all session files are saved
under "SFP+ QSFP+ TX" folder. Note that each session has multiple files associated
with it and do not tamper with any of the session file(s) and/or folder(s) this
may result in loss of data or corrupted session files.

SFP-TX, a DPOJET Plug-in, a debug solution
a) SFP+ QSFP+ Debug test can be launched from “SFP+ QSFP+ TX “ menu under “Analyze” menu of Scope
application menu
b) Launching SFP+TX option from Analyze menu will launch DPOJET application with SFP-TX as the selected
Standard under Standard tab.

SFP-WDP option
a) SFP-WDP is specific option to TWDPC measurement
b) TWDPC measurement is available as 10 free trial by default under TekExpress. Free trials will be
consumed on every time measurement is executed
c) TWDPC measurement on DPOJET do not have free trials

3. Before you click "RUN"

a) Ensure that all the required instruments are properly warmed up, Signal Path Compensation (SPC)
is performed, followed by calibration and cable deskew.
b) It is highly recommended to read “Troubleshooting” section in OLH before you click "RUN"
c) Ensure that the following softwares are installed in your system.
Tektronix Jitter and Eye Diagram tool [10.0.0 (64 bit - win7) onwards]
Microsoft .net 4.0 runtime engine
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or later.
Microsoft Photo Editor 3.0 or equivalent software for image files viewing.
Matlab 8.0 on Windows 7 (Installed as part of DPOJET - Jitter and Eye Diagram Analysis SW)
d) SFP-TX and SFP-WDP application runs only on the scope, user has to select only GPIB as option in
Options->Instrument Manager dialog to search available devices.
Default: GPIB8::1::INSTR will be selected.
e) SFP-WDP option is available to run TWDPC measurement only if SFP-TX option is enabled.

4. Supported Test Suites

Following test suites are supported by this version of TekExpress SFP-TX QSFP-Tx:
- SFP+ Host
- SFP+ Module
- QSFP+ Host
- QSFP+ Module

5.What's new in Version 10.1.0

a) Pop up sequence is optimised
b) Support for Inverse polarity
c) Support for SX series scopes


6. Recommendations

a) It is recommended to use a secondary monitor when the application is run on a scope.
b) It is recommended to use DC blocks for signals coming out of crosstalk source


7. Known Limitations

7.1 Installer related limitation
a) Installation of TekExpress and other software are installed on C: only.
b) User need to have administrative privilege while installing the application

7.2 TekExpress SFP-TX application and SFP-WDP option related limitation
a) User needs to have administrative privilege while installing the application and running the test
b) Test will be started only when all the instruments are available.
c) During test execution if user pauses the execution and makes any changes in
instrument setup, then it is important that user restores the instruments settings
to same state before clicking "resume".
d) DUT ID should have maximum of 32 Characters, even though field allows for more.
e) While running the tests, SFP-TX QSFP-Tx application will go behind the scope during some of
the tests. User has to press Alt-Tab to bring the application to the front.
f) Reports will not be generated if the text in the comments tab of Measurement
Configuration Panel starts with "=".
g) On DPO/DSA/MSO70000 C/D/DX/SX series, 100Gs/s is supported on Ch1 / Ch3 or CH2 / CH4 combinations
h) By default detailed log is always enabled, Hence Checking and Unchecking "Show detailed log" in
status tab, has no effect
i> Under Limit editor, If only greater than or only less than string is used, by default they are
associated with high limit and low limits respectively.
j> Saving session with Special Character and rerunning it in prerecorded will result in error.

7.3 TekExpress SFP-TX QSFP-Tx application known issues
a) The DPOJET-SFP+ QSFP+ application dlls will get deleted/un-installed if we upgrade the DPOJET
application. Work around: Re-install SFP+ QSFP+ DPOJET plug-in after DPOJET upgrade or re-install.
b) During recall session of any old version there is a popup comes which says session files mismatch.
