Model Number Firmware DSA8300 v6.1.1.1 or greater - The OUI v2.1.2.6980 supersedes all prior versions of the OUI application. - Please see the User Manual and software installation instructions for details regarding related software such as VISA which may be required in some cases. ================================================================================ 2. Contents of OUI Distribution - Tektronix OM4000 User Interface (OUI) installer - Tektronix OM4000 User Interface (OUI) installer for 32-bit Operating Systems - Tektronix Scope Service Utility installer - Tektronix Scope Service for ET Utility installer - ISSetupPrerequisites folder containing related software required by the OUI and Scope Service Utility installers. This folder must be located in the same directory as the installer. - OM4000 User Manual - Installation instructions - Release notes ================================================================================ 3. Main Features Product Enhancements in version 2.2.0: - New for maintenance release: • Support for new 70/59/50 GHz oscilloscope UltraSync 4-stack and 2-stack in 2 and four-channel configurations • The expected (true) symbol locations can now be used for the SDLMS filter rather than just the nearest symbol location if the data pattern is known • The user can now specify a Symbol-To-Bits mapping and import/export mappings using a new tool in the Analysis Parameters tab - Defects resolved • Rx Test now more robust to oscilloscope communication problems • Rx Test Wavelength Test now more robust to varying test conditions • Rx Test now compatible with 32 bit Windows 7 • Updated Power Meter dll to work with 32 bit Windows 7 • Fixed issue relating to loading configuration with no devices detected • Fixed issue that caused Radius-directed filter taps not to clear • Q-plot fixed for OOK Signal • Fast tuning laser support • Windows 10.0 64-bit support • Matlab 2016a 64-bit support ================================================================================ 4. Release Notes - Please read the installation instructions • The OUI requires installation of some supporting software. • V1.4 1.5 OUI versions should not be removed using the Windows Control Panel - The MCS feature must be present on the USB HASP key plugged into the computer to utilize the multicarrier features (MCS option). - Company Name Change (2011) If you are upgrading from a previous version of the OUI you will notice that the company name has been changed from Optametra to Tektronix. Several folders have moved to new locations. In the interest of protecting your work we are not deleting the old Optametra folders but have moved some files to their new locations. The following shows old and new folder locations. • Program files 32 bit OS (Matlab 2009a) OLD location : Program files installed in C:\Program Files\OPTAMETRA\OUI4006 NEW Location : Program files installed in C:\Program Files\TekApplications\OUI 64 bit OS (Matlab 2011b or 2014a) OLD location : Program files installed in C:\Program Files\OPTAMETRA\OUI4006 NEW Location : Program files installed in C:\Program Files\TekApplications\OUI • Files are moved automatically from the ExecFiles subfolder to preserve any Device-specific calibrations. Core processing and program files should be removed by the new installer. • User data (Layouts, logs, mcsetup) Windows 7 OLD Location : C:\Users\\My Documents\Optametra\OUI4006 NEW Location : C:\Users\\My Documents\TekApplications\OUI Windows XP OLD Location : C:\Documents and settings\\My Documents\Optametra\OUI4006 NEW Location : C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\TekApplications\OUI • UserPreferences.XML and MC Setup.XML are moved to the new Location. All existing layout files are incompatible with the new version of the OUI. Those files will be preserved in the old Optametra folder so if you go back to 1.5.1 you will still have those files. ================================================================================ 5. Known Problems - The new “Auto Scale and DC Calib” button only works with real-time oscilloscopes running the latest Scope Service Utility. When using a Visa connection or when communicating with a DSA8300 equivalent time oscilloscope, the button has no function. In these cases you will need to set the vertical scale manually and then use the DC Calibration button on the Calibration tab as in prior OUI versions. - RxTest frequency scan on first or last laser channel must be within 2x laser fine tune range. To access wider frequency scan, there must be sufficient tuning range available above and below the test wavelength. - User Account Controls If allowed by your corporate IT policy, set the User Account Controls to the lowest level to avoid problems relating to software communications between OUI, LRCP, and Scope Service Utility. Default Level is ok but it is important to click “Allow” if Windows asks to allow an OUI process to operate. - Installation problems • Please read the separate installation instructions • When upgrading, the Analysis Parameters settings from the older version may not be completely copied over to the newer version. Be sure to save settings before upgrading. - Laptops and video settings (Optimus Setting) • The OUI application is very graphics intensive. Memory leaks may be caused by some drivers when the Optimus technology switches between the basic and nVidia graphics card to perform advanced video activity. • The Optimus setting can be disabled in the “Video” section of the computer’s bios. - Problems with other Power Savings Settings • It is important to check the power saving setting on your computer and turn them off. Any interruption of communications to the HASP Key or network card may cause the program to crash. This is a problem when doing long acquisitions. • Change power settings to “High Performance” and verify that USB and Network cards never sleep under that setting. That should prevent any long running experiments from terminating for reasons of power settings. • Laptops also save power by not using the nVidia card. Use the nVidia control panel to be sure the nVidia card is used for the OUI application. - Upgrading from version 1.5.1 will cause loss of previously set Analysis Parameters. You will need to re-enter the Analysis Parameters after a V1.5.1 upgrade. - VISA connection to the SX scopes is not supported. The SSU must be used. - If you are running RXTest, please use the RXTest layout button to display the proper plots for the RXTest functionality. - If you are running Scope/Receiver Deskew, Modulation Frequency Test or a Wavelength Test and you select a Reference laser and Signal laser that have different Channel 1 you will get a red exclamation next to one of the lasers in the prerequisites tab. Adjust the Channel 1 setting on one of the lasers so they are equal. It may be necessary to reselect the Signal and Reference laser using the dropdown on the bottom of the LRCP laser control area to get the test prerequisites to refresh and clear the error. ============================================================================== 6. Installation - Please read the separate installation instructions • The OUI requires installation of some supporting software. • Version 1.5.1 or earlier OUI versions should not be removed using the Windows Control Panel; use the OUI installer to remove earlier versions. - Back up the LRCP ControllerConfig.xml file if you wish to preserve the existing map of devices and IP addresses. This file will be removed during the uninstall process. It is automatically recreated by clicking the Auto Configure button and then clicking OK. - Follow the instructions given by the InstallShield Wizard. ================================================================================ 7.
