AWG5202/AWG5204/AWG5208 Series Customer Release Notes Version: 8.0 Last Revised: October 21, 2021 Product: AWG5202/AWG5204/AWG5208 Description The AWG Software is a collection of software components for AWG series arbitrary waveform generators which include the AWG5202, AWG5204, and AWG5208 models. Version 8.0 Release Description V8.0 This release supports MSO5/6 series oscilloscopes for Pre-compensation and Capture and Playback Known Issues and Workarounds 1.0 If the user has a waveform playing and turns on a channel, the beginning of the output is corrupt with a dropout in data. Turn on the channel before playing the waveform. 2.0 Gated trigger mode works well at 1.25GS/s and above. Below 1.25GS/s, the first gate-triggered waveform plays properly, and all subsequent gate-triggered waveforms are not played. In order to play a single gated waveform below 1.25GS/s, Run/Stop can be toggled twice. 3.0 4X-interpolation results in marker corruption at all sample rates. 4X-interpolation has phase jumps except when the number of samples is evenly divisible by 4. 4.0 Changing the sample clock value via the remote programmatic interface while the sequencer is running causes the AWG5200 instrument software to become unresponsive. Do not change the sample clock when the sequencer is running. Important Notice The instrument is shipped with an administrative user account with the username “tek_local_admin” and no password is set. This account is configured to automatically log in. Therefore, you do not need to enter the password when powering up the instrument. It is highly advised that a password be created for this account TekVisa 4.2.0.15 is preinstalled on the instrument. If you cannot communicate with this instrument via VXI-11, please check the following: * Check “TekVISA VXI-11 Server” in the Exceptions list of Windows Firewall. Virus Protection Software This product is not equipped with a standalone virus protection software. However, some protection is provided via Microsoft Win 10 with Windows Defender. If this instrument is going to be placed on a network, it is highly recommended that you add such software. Microsoft Windows Service Packs and Security Patches Tektronix carefully monitors the latest security patches from Microsoft for the Windows Operating System used on this product. These frequent releases from Microsoft are evaluated for applicability by our Software Engineering team. In situations where Microsoft releases a critical security patch, Tektronix may perform accelerated review and testing. In situations where a Microsoft patch causes a change to the instrument software, this information would be made available on the Tektronix web site. If a Microsoft security patch update does adversely impact the instrument, customers can: (1) call the Tektronix Customer Care Center (see contact phone numbers in the section “Contacting Tektronix” below) and ask for help in recovering, or (2) use the supplied operating system, product software and any application software that came with your instrument to return the instrument to its factory-delivered condition. Security Considerations for AWG Instruments with the Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System The AWG5200 family of instruments is preconfigured with the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. The operating system is configured for maximum backwards compatibility with existing test setups. The default OS configuration ships with the User Account Control (UAC) setting set to Never Notify. To change the UAC setting to the default setting, go to the Control Panel and type UAC in the upper-right search box. Select Change User Account Control and drag the selector box up two settings to Default. The software will operate in this setting. By default, you will be unable to save files to any location besides the home directory. This can affect some GPIB applications that create directories off the root location of the C: drive. Activating Options Some AWG5200 instrument licenses are factory installed. If you ordered these licenses from the factory, they are already enabled and ready for you to use. If you would like to upgrade your AWG5200 to include a feature that does not require a factory upgrade, contact your local Tektronix representative. Refer to the Licensing section in the user manual for detailed instructions on purchasing and installing licenses.
