Changes in performance due to export regulations ------------------------------------------------ Changes in US Department of Commerce export regulations require Tektronix to change a specification related to the real-time performance of our instruments. Your instrument remains legal for you to own at its current performance, and Tektronix can service and calibrate your instrument without making any changes to your current performance.* However, if you'd like to update software of the instrument to gain access to new features, or to purchase new analysis capabilities on the instrument in the future, it is necessary to update your instrument to our latest software. This new software will affect the specification of minimum signal duration required for 100% probability of discovery and trigger on brief signals. If you decide to install the new software, you can order a no-cost, customer installable option (Option 09) that will recover the original performance. The price of this option is $0, but it does require that we determine your eligibility to receive this performance based on the new export regulations. *Some service functions that involve hardware replacement may require a SW upgrade to version 3.1.0029 or greater. A summary of changes for each model is given for instruments with Option 110 (110 MHz Acquisition Bandwidth). To see the complete specifications of all option configurations of the new software, please see the latest data sheet available at Tektronix.com. To see comparisons and more complete explanations of the new performance, please contact your Tektronix representative. Standard Opt. 09 - RSA6100A with Option 02 (Frequency Mask Trigger) 23.9 us 10.3 us - RSA6100A with Option 200 (Advanced Triggers and Swept DPX) 17.3 us 3.7 us Known Issues ------------ - Marker automatic movement functions (peak, next right/left, next higher/lower) do not function for WLAN displays WLAN Spectral Flatness, WLAN EVM, WLAN Mag Error and WLAN Phase Error. Workaround: Markers may be positioned with usual methods - click and drag, direct entry of position value. - The WLAN Spectral Flatness Marker table value always shows the value of the Points trace. - The WLAN preset parameter settings (standard and bandwidth) are not persistent. These settings are reset to default values each time the application starts up. Workaround: Use Preset action 'Show list' to verify the preset parameter selections. - The Guard Interval selection should be allowed only for 802.11n and 802.11ac WLAN standards. Workaround: None needed. Analysis for standards that don't have guard intervals is correct regardless of the Guard Interval setting. - Export Results (.CSV) values are not filtered by the selected WLAN standard. Results pertaining to other WLAN standards can be included in the exported results. - The WLAN Symbol Table data display is incorrect when the subcarrier index is changed with the Data range set to Single subcarrier. Workaround: Use a Data range setting other than Single - WLAN Phase Error, Mag Error, and EVM markers are not properly correlated with Spectrum markers - The trace display and trace freeze checkbox labels may be missing in the WLAN Constellation display settings panel. Workaround: Use Windows 7 personalization setting. - 802.11b WLAN EVM, Mag Error and Phase Error displays can use incorrect scaling values when the Displayed Results are set for Header only. Workaround: Use Autoscale to correct the scale setting. - The instrument may occasionally go to Stop state after adding a DPX display. Workaround: Press the Run button to start measurements. - In the WLAN Phase Error display the marker units display shows percent instead of degrees. Workaround: None. The marker value and units are in degrees, only the units display is incorrect. - Programming query 'calc:wlan:cons:mark:val?' always returns the marker value in decimal units, does not obey the radix setting. Workaround: Open a second display (DPX can be maximized to mimic the look of DPX running alone). - Extended diagnostics may fail if started with external trigger & time qualification enabled. Workaround: Preset the instrument prior to running extended diagnostics. - DPX Clear button does not clear the bitmap trace when using no or variable persistence. - When running the RSA application as a non-administrator, under some conditions of maximum memory usage an unhandled exception can occur causing the RSA application to exit. Workaround: Run the RSA application using an administrator account. - When using log frequency scale (Spectrum and Spurious displays) setting Start frequency > Stop frequency can cause the application to freeze. Workaround: Set the desired span in linear frequency scale then switch to log scale. - When using manual acquisition BW set to 110 MHz or 60 MHz and Span set to 40 MHz or below, a spur may be visible at -80dBm in the DPX display only. Workaround: Use 'Auto' acquisition settings. Note: Special procedures are needed for downgrading from this SW version to a previous version. Starting with this version the instrument data cache file is stored at a new location on the disk. The instrument SW will automatically move the existing data cache file to its new location. Subsequently, if an older version of the SW is run on the same unit, it will not find the data cache file in the old location and will create a 40MB default cache file. The result is that long acquisitions will not be supported. If a SW downgrade is desired, then move the data cache file from its new location back to its old location as follows: New location (SW version 2.0.104 and higher): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Tektronix\RSA\RSA6100A\System\rsa0.bin Old location: C:\RSA6100A Files\Cache\cachefile0.bin Documentation ------------- The instrument help files have been updated to include the new features. New optimization "Minimize Sweep Time" provides up to 2.5x improvement in spectrum update rates for instruments in spans greater than 110 MHz for instruments equipped with Option 110. Phase noise and jitter measurement (Option 11) - 10Hz to 1GHz frequency offset range - Includes integrated phase noise, jitter, and residual FM measurements - User selected optimization for speed vs. dynamic range New filter shapes for EMI diagnostics in spectrum and spurious measurements (standard) - CISPR and -6 dB filter definitions for commercial and military EMI diagnostics New trace detectors for EMI diagnostics in spectrum and spurious measurements (standard) - CISPR Peak, CISPR Average and Quasi-Peak detectors in spectrum and spurious measurements Video Bandwidth filters - Supports requirements for measurement standards, improves viewing of unstable signals (standard) - Range 1Hz to current RBW and Wide-open (off) - Maximum RBW:VBW ratio 10,000:1 (VBW > 3 Hz) - Available in spectrum, spurious, Channel Power/ACLR and OBW measurments 32 and 128 QAM modulation measurements (Option 21) Modulation Error Ratio - (MER) measurement added to General Purpose modulation measurements for instruments equipped with Option 21. Bug Fixes --------- The following bugs have been addressed: - Spectrogram trace does not update live when marker time is moved with mouse. - Problems properly recalling .TIQ files with spectrogram and spectrum displays. - Large spike can appear in pulse frequency error plot with frequency-hopped, chirped pulses. Known Issues ------------ The following are known issues. If available, a workaround is given. Documentation ------------- The instrument help files have been updated to include the new features. The programmers manual has been updated to include commands for the new functions. The new programmers manual is available on www.tektronix.com
