Release_Note.txt for the PCIe Gen5 Receiver Test Application Software (TekRxTest Application Software) Product: TekRxTest automation software for PCIe 5.0 (Base and CEM) Version: 6.1.0.X Date : Jan 2021 Contents: 1. Introduction 2. SigTest, TekRxService and Seasim 3. Connecting to the Oscilloscope 4. Recommendations / Known Limitations ====================================================================================================================== 1. Introduction The TekRxTest Automation Software supports PCIe 5.0 (Base and CEM) stressed eye calibrations and compliance tests. The Gen 5 calibration and tests are in accordance with PCI Express Base Specification Revision 5.0 Version 1.0 and PCI Express Card Electromechanical Specification Revision 5.0, Version 0.9. The Gen5 Base and CEM testing are accomplished by connecting the output of BERT PPG (which can produce specific PCIe test patterns) to the input of the DUT through a specialized set of fixtures and cables. The BERT can be programmed to add different amounts of random jitter, sinusoidal jitter, differential and common mode interference along with variable signal amplitude, pre-shoot, and de-emphasis. Output of the DUT is connected to the BERT error detector to identify bit errors on the DUT Tx traffic, either during loopback or during sweep of one of the stress parameters. Any error detected can be assumed to come from the DUT Tx-path as a result of either the DUT experiencing a bad bit-decision at its receiver or uncompensated back channel loss at the error detector of the BERT. Additionally, DUT Tx-traffic can be analyzed to verify the DUT responsiveness to various requests put forward by the BERT during link training process. Software includes Gen5 Base and CEM, calibration, Tx / Rx Link Equalization test and JTOL test for PCIe 5.0. Before starting the Receiver Test i. Launch the BERT MP1900A software as administrator (Use the desktop icon or go to the start menu to launch the software) ii. Ensure that Oscilloscope and TekRxService are launched iii. Go to the Connections page of the TekRxTest application, enter the IP address and connect ====================================================================================================================== 2. SigTest, TekRxService and Seasim The SigTest Application which is available from PCI-SIG and TekRxService are bundled with "TekRxTest_Application_V6.1.0.X" installer. TekRxTest_Application_V6.1.0.X comes with the following i. TekRxTest application ii. SigTest_Versions v4.0.52 (to be installed on an Oscilloscope) iii. SigTest_Versions v5.0.15 (to be installed on an Oscilloscope) iv. TekRxService (to be installed on an Oscilloscope) Installing "TekRxTest_Application_V6.1.0.X" creates "TekRxService" shortcut on Desktop. v. Seasim Application is required to perform Channel Loss, Optimal Preset and CTLE selection and Stressed Eye computation during TP1 and TP2 calibration. To support Seasim application, python packages are needed, and this is bundled with the installer ====================================================================================================================== 3. Connecting to the Oscilloscope During TP1 and TP2 Calibration, the software connects to Tektronix 70000-series real-time oscilloscope to perform calibration measurements. If one is not able to establish connection between TekRxTest application and TekRxService, configure firewall settings in the Oscilloscope (Only for the first time) i. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall ii. Click on advanced Setting > Inbound Rules >New Rules iii. In New inbound rules wizard select Port and click Next > Select specific Ports: 4006 > Click Next (Allow the connection) > Click Next (Domain, Private and Public should be checked) > Name: TekRxService (Save with any name) > Click Finish ====================================================================================================================== 4. Recommendations / Known Limitations i. Install the TekRxTest Application on PC/Laptop or on Oscilloscope ii. Recommend launching MX190000A as administrator iii. Perform restore defaults (Go to Settings > Restore Defaults), when TekRxTest application is launched for the first time iv. Amplitude Sweep not supported in both CEM and Base TP2 calibrations using 'Efficient' Stressed Eye Algorithm v. SigTest 4.0.52 not supported in Gen5 CEM TP2 Sigtest based calibration vi. There is a mismatch in RJ, SJ max and BERT max range for un-calibrated stress configurations vii. In Gen5 Base JTOL test, if auto search takes long time, TekRxTest application does not timeout viii. For Gen5 CEM, MOI is provided in lieu of Help document ix. During repeated runs of Rx LEQ, Tx LEQ and JTOL tests using PI commands, it is recommended not to change the DUT Type and the Calibration file during the iterations ====================================================================================================================== If you are unable to download or install this software, please contact the Tektronix Technical Support Center: Customers calling within the U.S. call 1-800-833-9200 press 3.
