System Requirements Operating System: • Microsoft Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit OS, Windows 8.1 32 Bit and 64 Bit OS • Administrator rights are required for installation. • OpenChoice Desktop online help requires the Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe). • Starting with the release of Windows Vista, the Windows Help program will not ship as a standard Windows component. Hence, Windows Vista users need to download and install this Help program from: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148 Hardware • Pentium III (or equivalent) or later processor 4 GB RAM or more Connectivity - RS-232, GPIB, USB, or Ethernet connection to compatible Tektronix oscilloscopes - Keyboard and mouse - USB (A to mini B) Cable for THS3000 - Tektronix THS30xx Oscilloscope USB driver and Tektronix THS30xx USB-Serial Port driver. OpenChoice Desktop VISA Support OpenChoice Desktop communicates via VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture). Using TekVISA, the following communication methods are supported: - Asynchronous Serial (RS-232) COM Ports - No support for ports setup for serial computer-to-computer networking. - No support for ports used for PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) Hot Sync with PDA. - GPIB (NI 488.2 compatible) - VXI-11 (Ethernet) - USB For THS3000 Series Instruments, OpenChoice Desktop communicates directly using Serial Port and does not require VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture). Known Issues - Screen Capture image in TBS2000 series is larger than that captured from the rest of the instruments supported in OCD. So, it hides the "Note" region in the Screen Capture Tab. Due to this, the "Modify Note" feature is disabled to prevent the modification of the note in TBS2000 series. - Opening .csv file of Record Length 10M and above multiple times may fail with File Format Mismatch Error. Restart OCD to open subsequent .csv files. - The waveform display feature in the Waveform Data Capture tab may produce an incorrect display for 10M record length acquisitions on signals above ~1 MHz. The waveform data is correctly saved, but may be incorrectly displayed. If you need to view the waveform within OpenChoice Desktop, use the Screen Capture tab. - The Auto Connect Feature in USB Plug and Play for OpenChoice Desktop may fail to connect to the desired Instrument when multiple instruments are being connected through USB to the same computer. In this situation, the user can manually navigate to the “Select Instrument” dialog and select the desired instrument to connect to. - For THS3000 Series Instruments, OCD does not support waveform transfer when the Instrument is in ScopeRecord/RollMode. OCD also does not support Math and Reference Waveforms. - Screen Capture image gets inverted (bottom-up) while switching between THS3000 series Instrument to any other non-THS instruments and vice-versa. Please do the "Get screen" to get the new image. - When the MSO2000 series .ISF waveform file (with high record length ) is opened in OCD and then saved into a CSV file, the timing precision is lost. - When Help is selected or Clicked ? on OCD bar, Help may not be popped up in some OS versions.
